Hi everyone. As you’ve seen on Facebook I’ve been out volunteering in Thailand with my friend Josette who has been helping the Thai street dogs for over 20 years. I first met Josette over 8 years ago on our first trip to Thailand when she helped me get antibiotics to treat a dog with a badly injured paw. I’ve been supporting her work ever since and send enough money to spay a dog every month to try and reduce the amount of stray dogs in future generations here.
I’m back out here at the moment and went out for the day with Josette on her regular rescue rounds and the problems are as bad as ever sadly. Covid, and the lack of tourism, has made people even poorer and whilst Josette has a few friends out here who help she’s mostly on her own and the numbers of dogs that need help aren’t getting any smaller. Whilst Thai people are generally kind to dogs, if they get sick it’s really not a good place to be, with very little money for themselves the Thai people simply can’t afford to treat the street dogs. So flea infestations and car accidents and even basic cuts and infections can slowly and painfully kill dogs over here, that is without the likes of Josettes work. A little goes a long long way out here. A few pounds will feed several dogs for days, five pounds will buy essential high quality goat milk to help feed a litter of puppies, ten pounds will buy enough flea treatment to treat a whole pack for a year, twenty pounds is enough to spay a girl dog and prevent a whole future of more dogs needing help.
Times are hard back home right now and so I hate to fundraise again, but being out here brings it all back with a bang. A little really does make sure a difference for the street dogs here.
Due to international bank charges and in the interests of full transparency I’ll fundraise on here so everyone can see the total value raised then I’ll transfer it to Josette in one single transaction. I’ve put the first £50 in and will cover all charges. Thank you so much again for your kindness ❤️
