Joseph's Wood- Το δάσος του Τζόζεφ- Coedwig Joseph

On 12th August 2021 we lost our love, ein cariad, Joseph. We want to keep his spirit alive by starting a woodland and community garden on his family farm where he will be laid to rest. He had a creative vision to transform the farm into a haven for nature and wildlife to flourish as well as giving something to the local community. We feel this would be a fitting memorial.

We have walked the farm and picked a tranquil site on the brow of a hill with views of the Brecon Beacons, where Joseph will be given back to the earth. There is already an abundance of wild flowers that attract rare species of butterflies, brambles that provide shelter for field mice and other small creatures as well as mushrooms that emerge across the hill. We will add to this habitat by planting more trees and shrubs that will help with drainage of the land and provide additional homes for wildlife, as well as cultivating mycelium to connect everything across Joseph's Wood. We have been advised by Natural Resources Wales on the types of plants that will thrive on the land, as well as on the path and fencing.

There are also plans to turn the bottom section of the hill into a community garden; where local people, especially children, can learn about the land as well as grow their own fruit and vegetables.

This will be an ongoing project for years to come as well as an essential part of the healing process for friends and family, but eventually Joseph will be surrounded by two acres of woodland.
