Hello my name is Emily Cook and many of you know my sister Amy Edwards whom we recently buried from cancer on August 28, 2023. Two weeks and 1 day later our brother, Joseph Edwards was admitted to the hospital for liver failure . Before then he was a healthy , working 43 year old ! This is an unexpected, likely hidden until now, autoimmune disorder as Joseph does not drink as all . Joseph’s current MELD score is a 22 and he needs to complete a thorough liver evaluation to determine his transplant needs . However his self paid insurance has a “liver transplant exclusion “ thus he is basically being treated as an uninsured patient . This go fund me is being created to assist in coordinating medical care to assist in his medical treatment as well as assisting in his support while being unable to work .
