On Saturday, July 16, Joseph McKey was admitted to the hospital with chronic back pain that was thought to be something like a slipped disc.
After many tests, the shock came that this pain was actually due to lytic lesions caused by multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood. He was quickly checked into the Oncology Unit at MCV.
While Joseph and his family are very positive, this is a challenging diagnosis. Treatment will require a strong faith, radiation, chemotherapy and lots of love and prayers. Joseph’s faith remains unshaken and his spirits are good. He knows God is with him and his beautiful family and the prayers are being heard….
The staff at MCV has been phenomenal and the outpouring of support from family and friends is much appreciated.
There will be many known and unknown expenses in the months and years to come and we are raising funds to help cover these … All of the funds donated (minus the GoFundMe fees) will go directly to the McKey Family and support Joseph, Elizabeth, Meredith, Samuel, Max and Anna.
In addition, meals will be helpful in the upcoming days and weeks. If you would like to sign up please use the following link:
