Help for Joseph Maffei while he focuses on healing
Donation protected
As many know my brother Joseph was in a horrible car accident on the night of March 14th on his way home from a double shift. If you’ve known me for any length of time you know Joseph has always been a huge part of my life and you know he has had more than his fair share of medical ailments in his 25 years and that he’s always been a fighter.
Joseph suffered multiple severe injuries; including but not limited to every rib broken, punctured lungs, L1 & L2 vertebrae fractures, neck sprain, broken pelvis, both femurs broken in multiple places, broken tibias, crushed feet & broken ankles.
Joseph spent the following few weeks in the ICU at Yale New Haven Hospital, before moving down to the orthopedic floor. During his stay he had 6 surgeries to repair his body. Joseph’s pelvis, legs and feet have been repaired with screws, plates & rods. Currently he still has no feeling in his left foot/toes.
Joe is now at an acute rehab facility where he gets 3+ hours of intense therapy a day and he is just now able to get into a wheelchair (assisted) after having been flat in a bed for 6 weeks.
When Joseph is able to return on his own, he will no longer be able to live at the apartment he considered home. He will need a first level open floor plan to allow for a wheel chair and possibly a walker. Due to this and the fact that he will need to focus on his therapy and healing for the next several months, I’ve created this go fund me in hopes to help take some financial burden off of him when the bills start coming in and help him when he’s ready to be on his own again.
Joseph has always been a fighter and is determined to become the strongest version of himself. He has been through so much and has suffered so much. Any help would be SO appreciated in making this transition easier for him.
Thank you for caring about Joe and please share, share, share. At the end of this fundraiser, I will withdrawal the funds for Joe and help disperse them where he needs them most.
