Joseph represent Team USA in Tae Kwon Do!

We are thrilled to introduce you to Joseph Chun, an extraordinary individual with Down Syndrome who is embarking on a journey across the globe in the world of Taekwondo. We are excited to announce that he has been selected to represent the 2023 US National Team at the Virtus Global Games held in Vichy, France this June.

The 2023 Games will be the most competitive to-date with an estimated 1200+ athletes from more than 50 countries competing across 10 Olympic sports. This is the largest and most prestigious elite level competition for athletes with intellectual impairment.

Having faced the challenges associated with Down Syndrome, Joseph has always strived to defy expectations and push the boundaries of what is possible. After excelling as a gold medalist swimmer in the Special Olympics, he unfortunately had to step away due to recurring ear infections. However, Joseph's unwavering spirit led him to rediscover his love for martial arts, and he has since dedicated his time and energy to Taekwondo.

As a current 2nd-degree black belt, Joseph's journey to the Virtus International Competition is a testament to his unwavering determination. He has taught us so much, always breaking down every barrier brought before him. Participating in an event of this magnitude requires substantial resources. Your generous contributions, however small, will play a vital role in alleviating the financial burden associated with travel expenses, accommodation, training fees, competition attire, and other related costs.
