Greetings world. This is Nick speaking. I am father, food prep attendant, washroom attendant, and chief mobility officer for our son Joseph. He is a wonderous and completely joy filled boy. He was born in 2017 which is a whole story unto itself. Coming from Dutch genes, he arrived early, hungry, and stubbornly determined. He was diagnosed with Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder. Considering it is a very fatal condition, Joseph making it to age 5 was a tremendous milestone.

However, being as stubborn as he is, and enjoying life to its fullest, he continues on. His life mission has been to spread joy, and to meet him is to understand that.

In the meantime, he continues to grow. It could be the meat and potatoes, but it is his will to thrive that has kept him as healthy as he has been. And with that, he has reached a point where he no longer fits his car seat. Due to his mobility issues, and inability to sit on his own, he requires transportation while sitting in his wheelchair. We are asking you, the wider world to help our family meet his needs. He now requires use of a fully accessible vehicle, of which we need our support community to help purchase.

In this campaign, we are also asking the community to help with the cost of renovations to our house. Because of the need of the ever growing size of equipment that Joseph needs, (and his continued growth as well) our home requires a completely new addition that can house and support Joseph. These last number of years we have been contemplating how best to handle modifications to our home to meet Joseph's needs. With the help of family, we have concluded that the best course and most cost efficient action is to build a new bedroom and bathroom addition to the back of the house. This will allow all of his accessibility needs to be met now and into the future.
