Joseph "Mighty Joe" Leukemia Fund

Donation protected
My name is Joseph Villanueva aka Mighty Joe to most who knows me. I am a man of faith and been fitness guru all my life.

A devoted father to my 12 year old son Joaquin and 20 month old daughter Jewel. A loving husband to my soulmate Sarah and loving son to my mom Tessie and Ian.

Growing up living in Toronto Canada since I was 12 years old, my family and I decided to relocate in the Philippines last year to experience the beauty of country.

I kept very active and enjoyed the tropical paradise until on April I started to have a cough that I couldn't shake.

After seeing 3 doctors giving antibiotics without any healing, we did a cell blood count and my white blood cells were at 124,000.

I was admitted in the hospital and ran lab tests for leukemic symptoms such as enlarged spleen and liver. It turned out positive along with a bone marrow biopsy which concluded the diagnosis.

Unfortunately, in life we are all subjects to change. On May 24, 2016 I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with very progressive T-cell.

The doctors didn't advice to start treatment due to my cough which had turned was severe pneumonia and it could complicate the treatment and may cause death.

I have been very weak and to the point of death these past months being hospitalized numerous times until present.

Because of this severe medical condition my family and I are not able to fly back to Canada until my cell blood counts are up to par with traveling the long flight and be cleared by my doctors.

The doctors have now very slowly administered my expensive chemotherapy treatment hoping I can safely fly back without suffering complications of stroke, brain hemorrhage or death from high altitude.

My right eye is semi blind with severe case of edema in my organs and lungs.

My white blood cell count has been recorded in the 800,000 and needed to be lowered by costly special machine by Haemonetics with multiple sessions.

The hospital bills is a very big burden for us due to the fact that my health insurance is in Canada and we have been paying all in cash without ways for me of cash flow.

Our family and friends funds are now depleted as the doctors decides that I have to stay in the hospital for the long haul just to keep me alive.

I am a lover of life with young family and long days to live.

I would be greatly appreciate if everyone could please keep us in your prayers as we continue to fight this extremely difficult time.

We are unsure how long I will have to remain in the hospital or how long my recovery process will take.

During this hard time we are reaching out to everyone who could help us going forward.

One hundred percent of the donations will be used for our medical expenses.

My personal goal is to be able to start my life again in Canada continue the long treatment and ultimately find the suitable donor for bone marrow transplant.

We will continue with updates and we are so very optimistic as I proceed with my recovery.

Thank you all so much for your support, love and compassion to give me a second chance in life. My family appreciates it from the bottom of our hearts.

May God bless you all!
