In memory of Joseph McCann

It is with deep regret that we share the news of the unexpected passing of Joe McCann, husband to Gail and father to Carly and Connor. Losing a loved one is awful. And losing a loved one unexpectedly when you’ve already fought so many battles to survive is just devastating.

Joe fought a battle with brain cancer for an extended period surviving treatment and operations and was beating the odds. His strength and resilience during this time was admirable and no matter how bad he was feeling he was always there to drop his little princess off to training and support her at competitions.

Unfortunately, he took unwell unexpectedly on Christmas Day, of all days, and was treated for a suspected heart attack. Subsequent tests showed multiple tears in his heart. Which was an unexpected blow to the family. And after being rushed into hospital in an attempt to repair his heart he passed away on New Years Eve after a long and heart fought operation.

The family are obviously heartbroken and due to Joes prolonged illness with cancer life insurance premiums were unachievable for the family whose focus was getting Joe back on his feet while managing life with two kids.

It’s fair to say life will never be the same for this family and the financial burden they will be under imminently will be an extra strain at an already difficult time. The goal of this GoFundMe is simply to alleviate some of that financial burden and allow them to distribute the funds where they see fit. Whether that be to assist the with the funeral costs or to help going forward with day to day life, or just something to make them smile at this sad time.
