Hi everyone! My name is Joseph, though most people call me Joey or Alex (my middle name is Alejandro). Through my school I have been given the opportunity to go to Costa Rica with Camps International for a month in the summer of 2027. There will be four different parts to the trip- community (it could be building classrooms to improve access to education, or maybe installing a clean water supply for a village); wildlife (ie helping with sea turtle conservation or cleaning beaches to protect nesting sites); environment (ie planting seeds in a rainforest tree nursery); and adventure (I will gain a scuba diving certificate!)

I am so keen to go to Costa Rica because I want to learn more about the culture, landscape and history of the country and I want to give back a bit to Latin America because my dad is from Mexico. I am really excited to visit the local communities and find out more about how I can help while I'm there. It will be the trip of a lifetime!

The trip costs £5,520 all-in, and Camps International encourages us to fundraise as part of our learning journey. I am looking forward to running the length of Costa Rica with my mum, doing bake sales, doing a car-washathon, and other fundraising events over the next 18 months.
