This past Thursday I said the hardest goodbye of my life. We lost the man who meant the absolute world to me. I am not kidding when I said I had the BEST dad growing up. He was a hardworking man who always put his kids first. I remember him always working but I also remember him always being there. Through riding our bikes, learning how to throw and catch, doing math homework at the kitchen table every night, jamming to classic rock, chaperoning school trips, touring colleges, he was everywhere, he did everything. We had the MOST presents every Christmas. Our house was crazy but it was so full of love. He always saw potential in me when I couldn't see it in myself. He motivated me to make a life for myself. He supported me in every way imaginable.

Despite my dad being in a horrible car accident 5 years ago, he pushed. He relearned how to walk and talk and was living his life independently right up until his last day, which is something he always wanted. I get some comfort knowing he will be reunited with his high school sweetheart and love of his life, my mom. He also had a special bond with his brothers and dad, all who passed before him and I know they will be welcoming him with open arms to his beautiful afterlife.

I'll miss you so much Dad. I cannot comprehend the idea of never receiving another phone call from you. I'll miss that "hi sweetheart, how's my big special girl doing?" more than anything. Rest easy Dad.

My family and I were not prepared for the loss of my father. We were not prepared emotionally or financially. For some reason it hurts to ask for help, but I have no other choice. My dad had no saving, no assets, and no life insurance. He lived on fixed income from social security. So I gently ask my friends and family to please help us in this vulnerable time in our lives. Your generosity is so greatly appreciated, you have no idea.
