Joseph Carvano’s Fearless Fight Against ALS
Donation protected
After months of testing to understand the cause of recent numbness in his arms, Joe Carvano was ultimately diagnosed with ALS in March of 2021.
He has spent the last year fighting against the rapid deterioration of his muscles amid clinical treatments hoping for the slowing of his progression. He has been courageous and strong, even through the most frustrating and difficult moments of this journey. Leaning on the love and support of his Mom, family, and friends, Joe continues to face this diagnosis head on.
For those who know him, know that Joe spent 20 years in the NYPD (both as an officer and detective), helping save lives and deliver justice. While his job was serious, he always loves to clown around and bring joy to those around him. He has taught us all so much, especially to laugh and enjoy life, especially because life is too short and that we need to enjoy every second of it!
In the past few months alone, his symptoms have rapidly progressed to where he can no longer drive, feed himself, and is losing the ability to walk. Joe now needs 24/7 care, on top of continuous doctor appointments, physical therapy, accessible equipment in his home, prescriptions and other services, placing a huge financial burden on him.
Thank you to all the friends and family who have already helped lift his spirits, and allow him to not focus on this terrible disease, as it only worsens and progresses each day. We are grateful for any support you can provide, and it is a blessing that Joe is loved by so many!
