Joseph (Jeonghu Hwang) is a 17-year-old award-winning ballet dancer with an incredibly bright future — but right now, he is facing a serious and urgent medical condition.
He began training in Korea and continued pursuing ballet after moving to the United States, earning recognition on some of the most competitive stages, including:
• Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP)
• Universal Ballet Competition (UBC)
Joseph has:
• Won multiple 1st place awards
• Placed at top levels nationally and internationally
• Been recognized as a YAGP Top 12 Finalist
• Received full scholarships to elite programs, including City Ballet San Francisco
Ballet is not just something he does — it is his life and his dream.
Recently, Joseph began experiencing severe intestinal bleeding, and doctors believe it may be a serious autoimmune condition, such as ulcerative colitis.
This type of condition is highly uncommon and concerning for someone his age and requires timely and specialized medical evaluation.
Because of the complexity of his case and limitations in insurance coverage, Joseph needs diagnostic testing at major hospitals equipped to handle cases like his.
However, these evaluations involve significant upfront costs — including specialist consultations, procedures, and hospital fees — which his family is currently unable to afford.
As a result, his diagnosis and treatment have been delayed, even though his symptoms are ongoing and serious.
This is not a short-term issue. His condition may require:
• Ongoing treatment
• Regular hospital visits

• Possible procedures or surgery
His condition has already forced him to pause his ballet training, miss important opportunities, and put his future on hold.
