Joselito's recovery after stroke
Donation protected
On April 12 2021, my brother Joselito 26, was severely ill. What first seemed like a bad case of food poisoning turned out to be something the immediate family was not expecting. Joselito suffered from an ischemic stroke, pneumonia, and tested positive for Covid-19. With covid protocols, Joselito is in isolation, he isn’t allowed visitors and as some of you know his immediate family live in different states. As we try to get answers, prognosis, care plans etc, what we are hoping to avoid is the compounding debt of long term care. Currently, Joselito is on oxygen, antibiotics and a feeding tube, his ability to swallow has been impacted. The dysarthria also causes weakness in the muscles required to speak, which has changed the sound of his voice and causes slurring. He has limited mobility, weakness, and changes in sensation on the right side of his body. He is a “fall risk”. As he waits for physical and occupational therapy to begin, speech therapy is assessing what facial and throat muscles need to be improved. He is young and we are hoping for as close to full recovery as possible, in the meantime, we don’t want him to stress over medical bills because of his inability to work, he drives for a living. According to the national average for outpatient stroke rehabilitation services and medication for the first year post discharge is over $17,000. We need him to focus on recovery and his overall health. Thank you for taking the time to read this, donate if you can. If you are not financially able we would appreciate a share on your social media. We love you all and appreciate your kind words, healing energy and prayers.
