Josei's Car Incident Fund

Hello all!

I'm reaching out because my immediate family and I have been put under a lot of financial stress. A little over a week ago I got a new car for the first time. I am a responsible driver and was taking great care of it. So many people helped me apply and get approved. My aunt cosigned with me because she knows I'm responsible and I promised her I wouldn't let her down. 6 days into having it, someone hit it in the parking lot while I was inside at work. There were witnesses and there is a police investigation going on but no one found a license plate or anything. The investigation has been going on for awhile with no real updates and if they can't find the person, I will have to pay $17,000 or more out of pocket. My car is a total loss. A $27000 car that the insurance company has valued at just 20,000-24,000. Plus repay my mom's 7,000 dollar contribution to my car which was all of her retirement. Any help you can offer would be amazing. I've never been in this situation before and have done nothing but try to do right by people and do the best I can and this is hitting me hard and has been a major shock in my life. I'm working hard and saving my money but I will need a working car because my old one is extremely dangerous to drive and the new one is completely totaled. Thank you everyone!
