Jose Barragan came to work for me at Instant Signs and Banners, in July, 2014, as an installer's assistant, having worked in all of the construction trades over the last 30 years.
Jose impressed me right off, with his upbeat, can do attitude, always showing up 15 minutes before his shift started at 6:45 to open up the shop and make coffee. Jose was such a willing and generous employee, as well as a great friend. If I ever needed him to come in after hours, after a full shift, (which happened often) he would cheerfully reply, "No problem Jefe". ( an affectionate term for boss in Spanish)
Jose passed away 9/26/15 at 2:30 pm at Long Beach Memorial Hospital from massive head trauma while working with my son, Michael, his friend and partner.
He had 11 children...6 that are still minors, ages 17, 15, 13, 6, 4, and 9 months old. The family is left in dire financial need, as Jose was the sole bread winner.
Jose will be greatly missed by his co-workers, his friends, and his family.
