Jose Juan Rodriguez known best by his family and friends as “Scuffy”. Scuffy or as I like to call him, stepdad, has stage 4 liver cancer. Back in December 2017 I was serving my country and was told to come home to what I thought was going to be his funeral. This man is so strong, stubborn and simply inspirational that five years later he is still here with us. However, due to the pain medications he needs on a daily basis, his teeth have taken the brunt of it. We are trying to raise the funds to get him quality dentures so he can enjoy his wife’s food just a bit longer. Every second I get with this man is a blessing. If you can spare anything we’d appreciate it. If you can’t, that’s ok too, please just pass it along.
Scuffy is the epitome of selflessness. He wasn’t born into much but he made the most out of it. He has served his country honorably for over a decade and then went on to serve his city, Springfield, MA, for another 30 years as a firefighter. I am who I am in part thanks to him.
