Jose Navarro-Soto's Passing
Donation protected
Hello and thank you very much for visiting our page,
My name is Nancy, daughter of my very brave father, Jose Navarro-Soto who passed away January 20, 2024, after a battle with the RSV virus that led to respiratory failure.
Some of you may know that in 2022 my father was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) which he courageously battled and underwent a bone marrow transplant that was donated by an unknown generous individual who saved my father's life. The amount of suffering that my father endured during his cancer battle was unbearable to witness, but he always put on his brave face and gave it his all as I knew my father could not bear the thought of leaving his only daughter behind. Though his post-transplant was a rough journey, he continued to push forward determined to to live, and that he did, so we could have more time to spend together as he was my world.
My father's work ethic and drive are none like I've ever known, within less than a year of this transplant, he returned to work and tried to get back some normalcy in his life. Just shy of a year of being 1-year cancer-free towards the end of 2023, he began experiencing a chronic cough, cold-like symptoms, and shortness of breath. After rushing my father to the emergency room and undergoing various studies, it was confirmed he had contracted the RSV virus which progressed into Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Watching my father struggle to take a breath was debilitating, day by day his struggle for air became worse and he ultimately had to be intubated, which eliminated his ability to speak and have real meaningful engagement due to various levels of sedation. He was intubated for approximately 20 days, I was certain my father would recover and I would be able to bring him home with me. Unfortunately and with a shattered heart, this is not how it unfolded as his lung condition left him with no chance of recovery, due to being immunocompromised from his battle with cancer. I found myself having to witness my father endure such horrible suffering due to his condition and the series of unfortunate events he endured during his hospitalization.
As I come to terms with this profound loss, I am faced with the financial responsibilities of the unexpected passing of my father, I am now left with medical bills, funeral costs, and all the unknown as I continue to navigate this, the best I can in honor of my dear father. I miss my dad so very much, he is and was my very best friend.
