My name is Jose Luis Martinez, and as many of you know, I am currently facing one of the toughest battles of my life—pancreatic cancer. This week, I begin eight weeks of chemotherapy, followed by a Whipple surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

The road ahead is challenging, and it has already brought a heavy financial burden. I’ve used all of my paid time off, and ongoing treatments have caused numerous unpaid absences from work.
