Jose Maria Recovery Support

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know, my little brother Jose Maria was involved in a serious car accident 6 years ago. The taxi driver fell asleep and crashed the vehicle into a wall, leaving my brother with an injury to his spinal cord. His diagnosis after the surgery was quadriplegic level C4 Asia A, which means he can't move or feel any part of his body from the neck down. A few months after his surgery, he was transferred to a public physical rehab center where the doctors found a thrombosis in his left leg due to the lack of movement after his accident and currently he has osteoporosis in the hip. Sadly, the thrombosis in his leg still remains because he needs to be in standing position for at least two or more hours per day and also he needs to get stand to recover more strengh in his hip.

On a good note, he has thankfully regained some motor functions and sensations in his arms, and has slight control of his torso. He can brush his teeth, roll his wheelchair around the house and eat! Although he can't move his fingers, he can twist his wrists a little bit.

Unfortunately, my family is not currently financially able to afford his medical bills and the type of therapy he requires to provide the necessary movement for his legs. 

In Peru, the type of standing machines for a quadriplegic to use to avoid spasms and loss of muscular mass are not regularly available. This is why we created a GoFundme account to help pay his medical bills, and hopefully to purchase of the Easystand Evolv Glider Large from the States.

My family and I believe with this help he will have the opportunity to regain more movement of his body and allow him a better quality of life in the long-term.
