Family, friends, and community,
On January 9th, 2021, at 1:45 pm, our dad, José (Lole) Sánchez, passed away after a 3 week battle against COVID-19. He passed away to the sound of his two kids and family telling him how loved he was, how much we miss him, but most importantly, how proud we are of him.
My dad was an immune-compromised, undocumented, essential worker who worked two jobs. His identity is important to me, as we can imagine my dad's struggles, especially during this pandemic. He was a single father, and while his mom and siblings are back in Mexico, it was also his priority to support them. My dad always took care of his family. He was the most loving and thoughtful person in our lives! He was an incredible father, son, brother, friend, lover, etc. He was my best friend. We hold my dad forever in our hearts, our minds, and our soul.
UPDATE: On January 25th, we buried my father at the Inglewood Park Cemetery. We couldn't have done it without the support of everyone. I'm forever grateful. We are still accepting donations to help us with the all the costs from the funeral & viewing.
Thank you to everyone for your love, support, and energy. Please stay safe and take care!
In Solidarity,
Rosie Sanchez
