Jose had a mass on his spine and required a lengthy surgery as well as an extremely long stay in the hospital to recover. Jose was admitted in August of 2022 and two days later had emergency surgery to remove the mass. Jose additionally had to have his spine reconstructed. Upon removal of the mass it was also discovered that he had stage 4 kidney cancer. Jose has been out of work along with his wife for multiple different treatments, hospital stays, and doctor visits since this all began. Upon multiple physics therapy appointments and different treatments, what seemed to be great progress into the recovery phase, Jose woke up one morning and the right side of his body was in paralysis. He was rushed to the hospital and it was discovered that the mass had returned on his spine. At present day January 25 2023 , Jose is now at Moffitt Cancer Center receiving another emergency surgery then radiation treatment to ultimately defeat this unfortunate medical anomaly. An even longer road to recovery is about to begin, and has been financially taxing on the Elias family. He has not been able to work since August of 2022, his rock this whole time is his beautiful and strong willed wife Denise who has not left his side, and has had to miss countless hours of work. Jose is a loving father and husband he has worked a full time job since the age of 14. He is currently a dedicated Sergeant at a men’s prison. He has willingly walked through the entrance of a Prison to put his life on the line for the past 16 years, and has been through hell and back in his long career .
