In August 2023 my dentist noticed some concerning areas on my tongue, and after biopsy in October it was determined that I had superficially invasive squamous cell carcinoma. It was detected early and was considered Stage 1 Cancer. After several doctor visits and scans, on December 7, 2023 I went into surgery to have the cells removed, along with a small chunk of my tongue surrounding the tumor. December 27th, the lab results from the surgery showed that all of the cancerous cells were severely removed from my body, and there’s no spread. I’m still recovering, and have a few challenges with talking and eating.
If you find anything suspicious on your body, do not hesitate. Have a doctor look at it right away. It could save your life.
