Jose Bahena’s Medical Expenses

Hey friends and family, this is the Bahena Family. For those who know my dad, know that he’s been a heavy drinker for most of his life but that has never stopped him from providing for his kids (Joey, Rey & Matthew) and his wife (Bella).

My dad recently left to rehab about a month ago and he was showing signs of improvement! He even stopped drinking. We’re so proud of our dad for even taking this step!

Unfortunately, this past week we received worrisome news that our dad was not feeling well and is currently hospitalized with pneumonia and cirrhosis. His health is not well and given his current state, he cannot go back to rehab and needs to stay in the hospital.

We are hopeful that he makes a full recovery but for that to happen he needs to see specialized doctors. We plan on bringing him back to the U.S. and admitting him in a hospital with specialists to deal with the illnesses he currently has. It has taken us so much for us to ask, but to all of our childhood friends, family friends, my dads friends, all of our family (close or distant), soccer teammates, or people who knew my dad to find it in your heart and extend a helping hand to the Bahena Family during this difficult time. We know that the care that my dad needs won’t be cheap and we cannot manage to cover all of the expenses amongst the 4 of us.

Hola amigos y familiares, somos la Familia Bahena. Los que conocen a mi papá, saben que ha sido un bebedor durante la mayor parte de su vida, pero eso nunca le ha impedido mantener a sus hijos (Joey, Rey y Matthew) y a su esposa (Bella).

Mi papá estaba en rehabilitación aproximadamente un mes y su salud estaba mejorando, y dejó de beber. Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestro papá por haber dado este paso.

Desafortunadamente, la semana pasada recibimos malas noticias de que nuestro papá no se sentía bien y lo tuvieron que hospitalizar porque tiene pneumonia y también le encontraron cirrhosis. Su salud va empeorando y necesita permanecer hospitalizado.

Tenemos la esperanza de que se recupere, pero necesita especialistas. Planeamos traerlo de regreso a Estados Unidos e internarlo en un hospital con especialistas para tratarlo. Nos da mucha pena preguntar, pero les pedimos a todos nuestros amigos de la niñez, amigos de la familia, amigos de mi papá, toda nuestra familia (cercana o lejana), compañeros de fútbol o personas que conocieron a mi papá, encontrarlo en su corazón y extender una mano a la Familia Bahena durante este momento difícil. Sabemos que el cuidado que necesita mi papá no serán baratos y no podremos cubrir todos los gastos entre los 4.
