Blast Cancer into the Past!
In December 2017 I received news that my very dear friend of over 20 years was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. It rocked my world.
I felt very helpless as Jo went to doctor’s appointments and scans and received news that is devastating to say the very least!
Jo is self-employed and has her own small media company with her partner. Jo needed surgery urgently but the earliest surgery availability in a public hospital was for sometime early in February 2018. Her family rallied around her financially and encouraged her to go through the Private Health system. On the 28th of December 2017 Jo underwent major surgery to have three large tumours removed, which were an aggressive advanced ovarian cancer. Unfortunately complications led to three more surgical procedures and Jo ended up spending 24 days in hospital. Jo has private insurance but as you can imagine it is still very costly. She has not been able to work and it may be sometime before she is able to. There are and will be a lot of out of pocket expenses.
I just want to support my friend and help her feel less alone during the next battle in life. Jo will lose her hair through the type of chemotherapy she requires to beat this horrible disease. In support of Jo I AM GOING TO SHAVE MY HAIR OFF!
My wish is to raise as much money as I can to assist her financially because someone with this illness shouldn’t have to be burdened with financial issues!
