Jorys Facial Feminization Fund & Living fund
Don protégé
Hello, my name is Jory, and I am a BIPOC trans fem.
My entire life, I have never felt comfortable as a "boy," and for a long time, I suppressed my identity. I tried to fit into society's views of manhood, but my gender dysphoria never disappeared. It has been five years since I initially came out to my partner as trans, and I would like to take steps to move forward in my transition, but I do not have health insurance, and neither my partner nor I can afford to take time off while I heal from surgery. Transitioning is also obscenely expensive.
You're probably wondering, why not just get health insurance from the state?
Because I live in Los Angeles and it's costly, I make just enough to not qualify for free health care from the state and county but not enough to be anywhere near out of the line of poverty or afford the healthcare options available to me
Even the most affordable state options are still hundreds a month and only cover a limited network of doctors, which can and will most likely conflict with my ability to find a good therapist and psychologist, and there is no guarantee that health insurance will cover any of my surgeries
What this transition fund is for:
- Laser facial hair removal ($350 a session * 5 sessions) - $1750
- PPO Health insurance for 2 years ($400 a month * 24 months) - $9600
- Living Fund for the time my partner and I have to take off while I heal - $6000
- Facial Feminization Surgery(Average cost 20k-50k) - $35000
Total: approximately $53,000
But because this money would be taxed 20-25% I have upped the amount to $70,000
This does not even include hip augmentation surgery or corrective measures, which are another area that causes me dysphoria, but at this point, I just want to be able to make some strides towards feeling more comfortable in my body
If in the event I meet my goal for health insurance and my insurance covers FFS, I will use the money for my hip augmentation, and if my entire transition is covered by insurance, whatever is left will be used to pay for health insurance for years to come so that I can continue to maintain my health and take any steps in the future towards my transition
I am extremely fortunate to have what I have and I recongize my priviliges but the truth is I cannot do this without asking for help and it is something that has effected my mental health for so long. I am reaching out to my community of queer people and allies for any support you can offer me. Donations, kind words or sharing this mean the absolute world to me.
I am so appreciative. Thank you.
