Our beloved Jori recently received the life-changing diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She began her 7+3 Chemotherapy regimen this week and will be hospitalized for a minimum of 30 days as she moved through this first phase of treatment. This has been a shock for all of us, but through it, we've witnessed something extraordinary - Jori's faith has grown stronger than ever. Surrounded by an incredible outpouring of love and prayer, she continues to face each day with courage, grace, and gratitude, trusting fully that God's hand is guiding her through this journey.
For the past 13 years, Jori has devoted her life to caring for others as a private duty nurse, specializing in the care of children with tracheostomies and ventilators. She also spent a year working as a psychiatric nurse, serving with deep compassion for others facing mental health challenges similar to her own. Her ability to meet people where they are - with gentleness, empathy, and faith - is a reflection of the incredible heart she brings to everything she does.
At the beginning of this year, Jori was working minimally in January and February due to severe anxiety and depression and she courageously completed eight weeks of outpatient treatment to heal emotionally and spiritually. Just as she was regaining her strength and joy, she was preparing to start a new position as a psychiatric intake nurse - a role that perfectly aligned with her heart for helping others. Before she could begin that new chapter, this unexpected leukemia diagnosis changed everything.
Jori's heart for service extends beyond her nursing - she is a solider in The Salvation Army, recently badged as an Emergency Services Volunteer, and is following her calling to become a Chaplain, offering hope and God's love to others in crisis.
Now it's our turn to care for her. While she focuses on healing, she is unable to work and faces significant medical and living expenses. Jori will also require additional rounds of chemotherapy called consolidation therapy, which will include shorter hospital stays in the months ahead. This will be a long journey toward full recovery, but she is committed to walking it with faith and strength.
We've created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden so that Jori can focus entirely on her healing.
Your donations will go toward:
- Medical bills and treatment-related costs
- Living expenses during hospitalization and recovery
Every prayer, donation, and message of encouragement reminds Jori that she is not walking this path alone - that the same compassion she has poured out for years is flowing right back to her.
"I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds," declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 30:17
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for standing with Jori during this time. Your support means more than words can express. We believe God is working through this season to bring healing, strength, and renewed purpose to her life - so she can continue shining her light and serving others in His name.
With love, faith, and gratitude,
Jori and Family
