My name is Matt Forsey. 23 years ago I lived in Chile and made several great friends. Jorge Jara is one of those dear friends I have have stayed in touch with over the years. The main picture is him and I in New York. I had flown in to Boston with passengers for only a single overnight. I learned Jorge was visiting New York and was returning to Chile the next day, so I rented a car and drove 3 hours to spend just a little time with him catching up.

This was over a year ago but we have stayed in close communication since.

A few days ago I learned that upon returning home from a church activity, Jorge found his home engulfed in flames. Fortunately he was living in the home alone so no one was in the home.

Most of the population in Chile live very meager lives. Jorge is no exception. It was a small home but it was all he had.

He continues in his resolve to keep a good attitude about life and prioritize what matters most, but he has lost all of his earthly belongings.

I have organized this GoFundMe to give him a chance at a new start and hopefully provide some relief from the grief he is feeling.

Once our goal is met I will send the money to an account in Chile owned by Jorge.

I’ve been in touch with Jorge. He is staying with a friend. Still trying to figure out what to do next. Thank you to everyone who has donated! I will leave the fundraiser up for a few iré days before closing it and sending everything we been able to raise for him.
