We are hurting and processing the most difficult time in any parent’s life, the loss of a son. On Thursday, January 26, 2023, our son Jorge lost his battle with his mental illness. Jorge was an amazing person, a good person, a loving brother and a beloved son. He was quiet but had the most infectious smile and selfless heart. He was on the road to a healthier life. Jorge was enrolled in an outpatient program to support his battle with therapy and various trials of medication and treatment. He lived with his dad, stepmom, sisters and brother. He fought so hard to live his life but could not fight the pain he suffered. Even though he was loved by his supportive family his mental illness took over. After twelve years of fighting his daily battles, our son took his life--a very tragic and unforeseen event. We may never fully know or understand the why, but we are hoping his story brings awareness to suicide prevention and the struggles of depression and schizophrenia. We ask that your share his story and keep Georgie in your prayers. We appreciate any contribution to help with his funeral expenses. We will forever remember and love our son Jorge “Georgie” Cabrera.
