In Loving Memory of Jorge Marco De La Cruz
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden and devastating passing of our beloved Jorge Marco De La Cruz on October 30, 2023. Jorge was a beloved father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Anyone who knew Jorge, in any way, shape, or form knew he had a positive impact and outlook on life and made it his mission to take care of his family and friends to the best of his ability. Jorge was of Dominican and Cuban descent and loved life to the fullest, but he was no stranger to multiple tragedies in his lifetime. His father was tragically murdered by gun violence when he was 12 months old. He was raised by his single mother Rafaela Fernandez, his sister Barbara Marrero, and his father’s family until the age of 5. His mother remarried and his stepfather Federico Maldonado came into the picture where he served as a great role model in Jorge's upbringing. Despite these early setbacks, he graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy in the year 2000 and was even elected as the student body president in his junior and senior years. Jorge went on to pursue his higher education at Johnson and Wales University in Miami and received his bachelor’s degree in hospitality. In college, he decided to join Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity Inc. Jorge cared deeply about his fraternity and fellow brothers and tried his best to keep in contact and show up to events as much as he could. He is the proud father of three children named Sinuhe, Francisco, and Angel. Jorge was not only a loving father but also a pillar of strength for them; his unwavering dedication to his family is shown through every hardship life threw their way, especially since the untimely death of his wife, Maricel De La Cruz who passed away from breast and lung cancer back in 2011. 3 years later, tragedy struck again, and Jorge lost his mother whom he held dear to his heart to pancreatic cancer in the year 2014. Jorge was always so full of life, laughter and appreciated everyone and everything he had. Just recently, he became the proud grandfather of Marianna De La Cruz this past July. Jorge's sudden departure has left an immense void in the lives of his children. We’ve simply set up this GoFundMe page as a means of asking for family, friends, and loved ones of the De La Cruz family for support as they navigate through this profound grief. We aim to ease their burdens by providing them with the financial support they need for Jorge's funeral costs and their ongoing needs. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate the heavy weight on their young shoulders and bring a glimmer of hope in these dark times.
Let's come together as a community and honor the legacy of a man who dedicated his life to his family's well-being. Your generous donations will alleviate the financial strain and offer a ray of hope for the future of Sinuhe, Francisco, and Angel.
