Jorge A. Blandon

It is with great sadness that our dear friend and co-worker Jorge passed away suddenly this week due to complications of kidney failure at the age of 53.

Jorge was on dialysis for the last 6 years while waiting for a new kidney, and he was so close. We know he was at the top of the list and was waiting for the call at any moment, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Jorge is survived by his wife, Ester, and 2 children, George and Gislene, as well as brothers Ruben and Frank.

I first met Jorge at the Taco Bell in Hollywood drive-through in 2001. I was looking for someone to hire with great customer skills. His warm demeanor, smile, and commitment to excellence struck me at that moment. I handed him my card and asked him to consider a new career in swimming pool maintenance. He never called, so I returned to the drive-through the next week. There he was. I said, “Are you going to call me?” The next day, he did.

The rest is history.

Later, his brothers Ruben and Frank would join the team, along with several others from the same small community in El Salvador.

We have been a team; more importantly, we are family. King Neptune Pools could never have happened without him agreeing to take a chance on me.

I am asking, at this time, if you can donate to the family for his final expenses (however small or large); the family will be eternally grateful. Most of all, we need your prayers!

As I sit here and think of Jorge’s gentle spirit and long-term commitment to his work, his family, and his church, I am grateful beyond belief to know such a wonderful and decent man.

I love you, Jorge. RIP
