Let’s keep Jorden on the move with a Mobility Scooter!

Hello everyone. I am sure you are all aware of my medical journey by now. I have been told my dialysis treatments will be an ongoing long term way of life now for me. Previously, when I would go on dialysis it would be short term so my kidney would recover from my reoccurring diagnosis of pneumonia or illness. Of course each and every time my transplanted kidney took a bit more damage to it with every illness. So this is where I am at. I am able to receive my dialysis treatments at the Hanover Hospital. It is a satellite unit for my hospital in London. So the best part is that I know everyone there and I feel safe. And of course my special Dr. (King) follows me there, as always. :)
Currently I attend at least 3 times a week for about 4 hours each time.
With the treatments I become very tired. Often I have a headache and/or leg cramps.
Mostly what I miss most about my ‘before Dialysis life’ is my independence. I used to go for nice walks downtown nearly everyday. I would also go grocery shopping, walk to the dollar store, have a part time job, go to the library or movies, or meet a friend for dinner. These are all things I enjoyed so much but now with having to walk to get to them it is difficult, all while being on oxygen and dialysis.
Most will know I live in a small town (Hanover). It’s a fantastic community but there are no buses and a taxi will cost $6.00 each way for a simple trip to the hospital or grocery store. This has proven not practical on my disability budget.
When I was 15 I had an e-bike and I loved it! I am a very social person and I enjoy being active in my community. When I had my e-bike I went all over town (and out of town to my papas house) to visit friends and family and run errands. However due to my health challenges now an e-bike is not suitable or safe me and this has created significant barriers.
I am able to receive drives through ODSP for medical travel (only). The drivers are very nice but they are not able to drop me off or drive me to any other locations other than my home and the location of my medical appointment. they also have to be booked 5 days in advance and when dealing with medical conditions that can fluctuate, this has proven to be difficult.
These are some of the charges just to have a drive, that can arise: Taxi from my apartment to hospital or store is $6 each way. HCSS charges: from my apartment to Day Away Program at Hanover Hospital is $6.50 each way. My apartment to Walkerton to see a play costs $12 each way.
Due to my disabilities I am not able to obtain a regular drivers license.
After meeting with my occupational therapist, an enclosed mobility scooter was recommended as it is enclosed for the cold/hot/wet weather and has space for my oxygen tank and even Gracie! It does not require insurance or a license to drive. It also does not require gas ($). However there is no standard funding to cover the cost of the Mobility Scooter which I know is not affordable on my budget.
A mobility scooter will support my overall health and wellbeing significantly; both mentally and physically.
I have approached various community agencies and service clubs however I have had little response.
I am aware of the high cost of an enclosed mobility scooter, and I would be very grateful for any support towards the cost.
I will update this post, should any of the requests to social agencies or services clubs respond.
I am trying to do as much as I can to help contribute to the cost as well.
I had a mini garage sale at my parents house on the weekend and received $85.00
I also put my 300.00 income tax $ return on my go fund me account.
