Jordan's Challenge

Story

We got these hoodies when we completed Jordan's 100 Street challenge that he had begun with his Cadet squadron in November, whilst they were looking at helping their mental health....Since Jordan died by suicide in November at the age of 16 years, 11 months and 26 days we have looked at how we can help others in his name.  Though Jordan was dyslexic and on the spectrum it did not define him, he struggled so many times, but he took the time to listen to others, he had such a big heart even if at times it overwhelmed him. He seemed to see others when they couldn't see themselves, he could signpost others, unfortunately he didn't want to burden others himself, to talk to a stranger was outwith his capabilities. We would like to support The Lighthouse for Perth further, and create 'HAPPY TO CHAT/HAPPY TO LISTEN' benches. The thoughts about these, is social isolation affects so many.  Covid has highlighted that further.  To involve every community and group that are happy to begin the conversation. Mental Health is the same as Physical Health, we need to reduce the stigma, realising that some of us are good at chatting, others at listening like Jordan.A chat or a friendly ear - no judgement. My challenge as his Mum, is to be more active, after my car crash in December 2019, Jordan did soooo much research to support me. Encouraging stretching and exercise, to improve my own wellbeing. I still have a way to go, still being in physical pain most days and I feel that this is a start.. for me and honours his love of physical exercise.                                         5 K each day from the 2nd June - 2nd December - 183 days                                                                     finishing on Jordan's 18th BIrthday All monies go towards materials for benches and will help support the Lighthouse for Perth Hub programme helping those in crisis. From this we would also invite  anyone that wants to fundraise as well, all we ask, it is some form of physical challenge, any monies you raise are given to this fundraiser or a mental health charity of your choice, but acknowledge ~  Jordan's ChallengeFind us on Instagram at Jordan's Challenge Thankyou so very muchBeth, Gavin & Su
