Since Jordan was in the 6th grade, she always wanted to join the Air Force. She officially joined her junior year in high school and was sent to Lackland Air Force Base for basic training a month after graduating high school. Jordan signed up to serve six years in the United State Air Force in Minot, North Dakota, as a Crew Chief for the B-52 bombers. She loved her job in the Air Force until it had to be cut prematurely at the five-year mark in 2020 due to a severe injury from falling off of a plane during a maintenance inspection. She suffered a fractured cheek and an injury to her leg that took away her running ability. She had to put many of her bills on her credit cards until she received money from the Air Force for reimbursement. Once she came home to Tampa, she immediately signed up for the aeronautics school to expand her knowledge of working on commercial planes.
Fast forward to 2022. She had one semester to go when she went to the Doctor for a cough that she could not get rid of. After several tests, she found out that she had a very aggressive cancer called Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma. It is part of the Non-Hodgkins Lymphomas. She had an eight cm-sized tumor (the size of a small grapefruit) in her chest wrapped around one of the main blood vessels to her heart. She was immediately admitted to the VA to start chemotherapy. They also found that cancer had spread to the lymph nodes in her neck. They determined that she had Sepsis, and they also advised her that she had nerve damage in her hand from chemotherapy. She spent over a week and a half in the hospital receiving her first round of chemotherapy which takes five days to administer. If that wasn't enough, the weekend after she was released, she was rushed to the hospital with a fever and tremendous pain.
In one day, Jordan went from a student/employed at the airport to a 25-year-old cancer patient who had to take a leave of absence from school and her job. The Air Force has informed her that if she does not enroll back in school within six months, she will need to pay them back. She was not prepared for this and incurred an enormous debt to live. Thankfully, she does not have medical bills because she is treated at the VA (which has been exceptional). If we meet our goal of $ 12,500, this will take away some of the debt and not force her to claim bankruptcy. She has tried consolidating her loans, but they will not give her a loan because she is not currently working. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would alleviate the stress of worrying about paying her bills. We thank all of you who have been in touch, and please continue to keep her in your prayers.
