Help Jordan, Sam & Holly after the Taree Floods

Donation protected
You've probably already seen the videos & interviews of our darling Jordan, Sam, their 2 year old son & Holly on social media or the news during the devastating floods here in Taree.

When the evacuation notice went out, the roads surrounding them in Glenthorne were already flooded. As they were already isolated, they had no choice but to bunker down and do what they could to further prepare their home. In the 2021 floods, the water was only 3 bricks high in the lower floor of their home, entering from the rear of the property. The embankment at the front of the property sits approximately 6m higher than the river, and in living memory, water has never breached this bank. This time around, the water broke the bank at the front, placing the entire street in the direct path of the river's ferocious flow.

Around 1am, they made contact with emergency services and were told help was on the way. With the water rising fast, they continued to call for help as the early morning went on. They were told by emergency services that they could only be rescued by a chopper, but that there wasn't any. Come daylight, they were still waiting, and the water was around 600mm from entering the second level of their home. Sam took to social media, putting out an SOS to see if anyone could help.

Many family, friends, and locals shared Sam's post, gaining the attention of the media. Jordan & Holly showed immense courage, conducting media interviews to discuss their experience, all while still living the horror.

Shortly afterwards, help arrived. Pol Air lifted Jordan and 2-year-old Zaphyr to safety, with the promise of returning to rescue Holly and Sam. They returned and rescued Holly, while Sam stayed to wait for the SES boat to ensure they could also save their darling pooches, Isla and Pablo. Sam & the dogs were rescued via boat at the back of the house, and the family was reunited at the drop-off point before being taken to the Tuncurry Evacuation Centre.

The media attention Sam, Jordan & Holly brought to the dire situation here in the Manning Valley was crucial - further choppers, SES crews, emergency services and resources were brought to the area shortly after the media exposure of their cry for help.

Like many others in the area, due to the astronomical cost, they did not have flood insurance.

They were able to return to their home on Friday to assess the damage. The absolute devastation is hard to comprehend.

We're reaching out (myself and Jordan's sister, Casey) to help them get back on their feet, and all funds raised will go towards covering essentials like a hot water service, replacing internal walls, washing machine & dryer etc, along with supporting Holly and all the items she has lost.

They're the most humble individuals who are always there to offer a hand to anyone, and ask for nothing back in return.

Please donate if you can spare anything, we're hoping to raise enough money to help out the neighbours and community too!
