Jordan Sean Medlin Medical Care Fund
Spende geschützt
On July 23, 2021, Jordan Sean Medlin suffered a heart attack caused by a severe case of pneumonia. At some point during this cardiac episode, Jordan's brain was severely deprived of oxygen, leading to anoxic brain injury. Jordan currently cannot speak, is dependent on a feeding tube, and requires full assistance for every aspect of his care. Jordan lives with his Mother in Moon Township, PA. His Mother is his primary caregiver, with some push-in services from nurses and specialists and some help from family. His care continues to be a monumental challenge for all involved, but especially his Mother.
Tragically, Jordan's father, Mike Medlin, passed away on February 5, 2024, due to complications with lymphoma. Mike was a bedrock of support and care for Jordan and his family. More than ever, Jordan and his family need your help. Your donations have facilitated the purchase of an emergency back-up generator, an improved bed to accommodate Jordan's specific needs, an improved custom wheel chair, an electric ceiling-mounted hoyer lift, as well as various everyday needs for Jordan. Please continue to support him, his journey back has only just begun!
Jordan's long term prognosis is uncertain. Since the time of his accident, his body has continued to weaken due to his quadriplegic status. He requires full assisted care for all of his day to day tasks. However, his mind has (very slowly) continued to get stronger. He is still unable to speak, but he can choose the correct answer to reading comprehension and math problems by looking and focusing on a cue card with the right answer, among other cards with incorrect answers. With continued resources for more extensive therapy, we believe Jordan can and will recover more of his cognitive function, and God willing, will one day speak again.
We will never give up on Jordan. He is a beautiful soul and a fighter. Anyone that has ever crossed paths with him knows the light and warmth his spirit brings into this world. He has a brutally difficult road ahead of him, but we are confident that someday, with enough faith, love and determination, we will get him back. We desperately ask for any donations you can give to Jordan's continued care, comfort, and rehabilitation while we work to accommodate his needs and facilitate his recovery.
The Medlins appreciate all of the prayers and messages of love that have come their way, for both Jordan and for Mike, but what they urgently need more than anything right now, and what Mike would request in lieu of flowers or food, are the financial resources to provide Jordan with the care and rehabilitation necessary to give him a chance at recovery. Any donation you make to that effort, no matter how small, will have a direct impact on Jordan's care. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support.
