Nate Lindley and I, Jordan Pinkston, will be heading out to Long Beach, California on June 12th. It’s been pretty crazy knowing we’ve been thinking about doing this for the past 2 years… and now it’s finally here. While Nate and I both will be pursuing employment in California, we are also looking for support from anyone who may want to help in that way. Nate and I will be on mission helping cultivate deep community with Teddy and Krystle Hart as we plant a church in beautiful Long Beach, California. Nate and I have been extremely cared for over the past 6 months by two separate families that have taken both of us in rent free. We’ve been able to put that money into savings which has been huge for both of us. As you may or may not know, California is extremely expensive to live in. In Charlotte, median houses will rent for around $1.15 per sq. ft. In Long Beach, they begin at around $2.50 per sq. ft. Teddy and Krystle Hart have already made their move to California and are creating community with a lot of families already. It is our prayer that through these relationships, someone will possibly have a room or two available for rent. Teddy and Krystle have opened up their home for us to stay until we find a place to call our own which has been a sigh of relief. Our goal is to raise $8,000 in the next 30 days to help with the costs of getting to California (we are expecting $600 for gas split between two cars plus food and rooms), application fees for apartments, security deposits and then 3 months of rent at $1,600 a month. This will at least give us a buffer to continue putting money into savings while we get our “feet wet” for the next few months. This will help take an incredible load off of both of our backs.
