Jorah's Life-Saving FIP Treatment

Donation protected
Back on Memorial Day weekend, we stumbled upon two adorable kittens through Alley Cat Allies and instantly fell in love. We named them Jorah and Jax. Jorah was a spunky, playful, and loving ray of sunshine. He would play fight with his brother, amaze visitors with his high jumping acrobatics, and would never let a lap go unsat in. However, the past month he has slowly stopped doing everything he once loved. He stopped cleaning himself, he stopped playing, he wouldn’t even jump to sit in his favorite chair anymore. We started to notice a difference in his overall demeanor. He lacked energy and could hardly eat. The once affectionate healthy little kitten was skin and bones and appeared depressed. After him getting sick multiple days in a row, we decided to rush him to the vet.

On Saturday December 8, 2019, our 7-month old Jorah was **diagnosed with the most intense,  terminal feline disease called FIP.** Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)  is a incredibly rare & painful viral disease. It is caused by certain strains of a virus called the feline coronavirus, that kills afflicted cats (by attacking their own immune system) within weeks to months at most.  Once a cat develops clinical FIP involving one or many systems of the cat's body, the disease is progressive and is almost always fatal. A VERY small percentage of cats get this disease, and we were told Jorah's case was incredibly severe and time-sensitive.

The disease once had a 100% mortality rate, BUT hope lies in that the deadly disease has recently been successfully treated using highly experimental medications in more and more situations in China and now the US; the red tape that surrounds its chances of FDA-approval keeps it away from being easily accessible to US pet owners, making them incredibly difficult to get. BUT we are blessed to be in contact with someone who has the medications, but the treatment is very costly.

This treatment is the reason we started this GoFundMe page. There is a GREAT chance that Jorah will survive if he is able to complete this treatment. Because of how the disease progresses, though, we are looking to raise funds ASAP. Every day we wait to get him treatment is another day closer to his passing..

We are asking our friends, family, cat-lovers (or maybe even just cat-likers) and all random pet owners to help us out during this upsetting time and help give Jorah a chance at living a happy life alongside our family and his brother Jax. We love him too much to not give him a shot at life..

Because FIP is so hard to completely diagnose we are not sure of a set price of full treatment, due to the lack of public information about previous feline patients; however, the price listed will be the minimum needed for the FIP treatment pills, along with 3+ months worth of vet visits, blood work, and extra supplements he will need to be given.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this far and considering such a generous gift. We appreciate all the love and support we have gotten thus far, and even if you cannot donate, we would greatly appreciate a SHARE of this page! We are sending out so much love to everyone, and we are praying Jorah makes it through!

Funds raised beyond providing for Jorah's medical needs will be donated to FIP research to help the fight for a set cure for this fatal disease.
