My name is Jontee Brown, im 18 years of age, at the start of 2015 i suffered from an infection in my left knee when I travelled overseas on a school trip helping third world villages, the infection unfortunately put me in hospital for some time and having 4 knee surgeries I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis. Reactive arthritis is a painful form of inflammatory arthritis, a joint disease due to inflammation, it occurs to an infection by certain bacteria, now having over a year of physio it has also caused thinning of the knee cartridge and also secondary osteoarthritis, this has affected me greatly through being unable to work, not being able to walk long distances and most of all no stand up sport. Recently ive began to play wheelchair basketball due to my inability to play any stand up sport, wheelchair basketball has provided me something enjoyable to play as well as competitive sport again, due to me only recently taking it up I haven’t got a correct chair to play in, so for me to continue to improve in the sport im needing to hopefully purchase my first wheelchair, due to the expenses of a new chair I would greatly appreciate any funding to go towards it. The money funded will go towards my chair and allow me to continue a sport I enjoy as well as being able to play a form of sport. for me to continue playing means the world and has allowed me to already experience the joys and excitement of playing the sport as well as meet some amazing people.
