Jon's Reflection Bench
Donation protected
Hi all, this is Jake Anderson. I am creating this page for anyone who would like to contribute to Jon's reflection bench. The family, some close friends and I are currently in the process of making it but figured that others might want to chip in as well. To date, we have gotten permission from Sudden Valley, selected a beautiful location at PM beach, excavated and leveled the site, poured the concrete slab and began collecting rocks for the retaining wall. We plan to procure teak wood for the bench itself, which will have a mural of the things Jon loved burned into it and a bronze placard fastened to the concrete. The total cost for materials is estimated at $3,500. This project will be completed regardless, but if you would like to help offset some of the cost and contribute to a place we can visit to remember our time with Jon for years to come, please consider donating.
Additional information: Our plan to use teak wood for the bench is the primary driver of cost, coming in at roughly $3,000. A little background on the material: natural teak is incredibly durable and naturally water resistant. Because of these qualities, teak is the best wood for outdoor furniture. Teak does not need to be sealed or stained to hold up to the weather, as it has a natural oil that is very protective and helps lubricate the wood.
If you have any questions about the process or would like to receive updates on the project, feel free to reach out to me directly at [phone redacted].
