Jon's Journey: From Hospital to Home
Donation protected
My name is Jason O'Neill and my lifelong friend, Jon Hollin, needs your help. For the past 17 years, Jon and I, along with our families, have raised over $1 million for Cystic Fibrosis research. Jon has Cystic Fibrosis, but the money we've raised has always gone to the CF Foundation for research. Tragically, Jon had a heart attack in February of last year and has been hospitalized ever since, dealing with dozens of complications and setbacks. The Hollins want to bring Jon home to get the care he needs and get him back on his feet. In order to make that happen, we need to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for his in-home care . I hope you'll help my friend who has done so much for so many others!
Here's the whole story:
On February 22, 2024, Jon suffered a massive heart attack that led to an anoxic brain injury. Since then, he has been in the ICU or at an acute rehab, fighting to regain what was taken from him.
The first two images on this post show Jon recently in one of his only days outside since October. The image of him wearing a blue shirt is from just before the heart attack. You can see how much this has ravaged his body and health.
This is the same man who has already had a double lung transplant and kidney transplant. His body has already been through so much.
Against all odds, he has survived. Against all predictions, he continues to push forward with resilience, humor, and unwavering determination.
Now, he faces his greatest challenge yet—finding a way to be able to come home.
His family was given two choices for Jon's ongoing care: place him in a nursing home or bring him home to continue his recovery. A nursing home was never an option. The care is inadequate, the setting isolating, and worst of all, family presence is limited. Jon is not giving up, and neither are we. He deserves to recover at home, surrounded by the people who love him.
But his family can’t do this alone. Jon needs round-the-clock nursing care, intensive therapy, and specialized equipment—most of which insurance won’t cover. The costs are staggering, but the alternative is unthinkable. This is where we need your help.
Every dollar raised will go directly to Jon’s care—ensuring he has access to the physical, occupational, and speech therapy that will allow him to regain independence, the medical equipment that will keep him safe, and the nursing support that will help him heal.
For years, we have raised funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through our WWRCF event, never imagining we would one day need to ask for help directly for Jon. But here we are. Jon has defied every expectation, and with your support, he can do it again.
Please help bring Jon home. His fight is far from over and only with massive support can we make sure he has every chance to succeed in his recovery.
Just to give you an idea, here is how the money will be spent.
24 hour care for nurses and aids (beyond what insurance pays for)
Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy
Percussion Vest for pulmonary airway clearance from his Cystic Fibrosis
Pulmonary Bed
Generator for continuous electricity for Ventilator
Power Lift Chair
Stairway Chair Lift
Electric Hoyer Lift
Conversion wheel chair Van
If any of the money raised is not needed for Jon's care for any reason, it will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Here is a video from our last WeWillRockCF fundraiser in 2023 where Jon tells his whole story (prior to having a heart attack).
Thank you so much for your support!

You may notice the change in the goal we've set. We started with what we thought was a reasonable number but the fact is the actual costs are well beyond our initial goal. We've done some direct in person fundraising as well to supplement the GoFundMe. As Jason said in his message, we've got to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to secure Jon's medical care and rehab.
