Jon’s brain cancer battle

Donation protected
Thank you for the support so far, it means a lot!
(update below)

We are hoping to try to raise funds to help ease the financial burden my mum and step dad are currently going through.
my step dad, pretty much my dad for the last 15 years, and Pops to our kids, has just managed to beat a rare lymphoma cancer and brain tumour at the Clatterbridge hospital in liverpool. He’s been in hospital for the last 6 months with various rounds of chemo stem cell replacement infections and absolutely zero immune system. At the very last hurdle after the hardest spell of chemo he had his stem cells replaced. Unfortunately it has not gone well and he is now incredibly unwell with multiple infections that a fantastic team of doctors, consultants, professors and nurses are all battling with. We can’t find the infections which has meant he has had to be in a medically induced coma because he has no immune system and he is extremely unwell. At the moment our family are taking one step at a time and being there for Jon as he has for us for all these years.

My Mum cannot work due to being disabled with long term spinal conditions and the DWP decided it was a reasonable action to cut the ‘pip’ they were both receiving and only support 1 due to Jon being in hospital. The money they had saved through their working lives is diminishing rapidly due to needing to pay for travel or hotels as the car journey can take 2 hours to get there with them living in Stockport and Jon being in Liverpool. There’s the cost of hotels car parking food and still ensuring all the bills are paid so she can be nearby to be with him daily and for any emergencies. As you can imagine the cost has started to add up massively. She is trying to pay for the home they own, support her partner and manage day to day while suffering severe pain most days herself all the whilst obviously having no income now for the last 6 months. We don’t want to see them lose their home in order to cover the ever mounting costs and also hate that there now has to be a choice of staying home or booking hotels to be near her extremely poorly husband. It’s a choice nobody should make. On the rare occasions he is fighting through sedation Jon is just desperately trying to tell my mum he loves her and they are both terrified of losing each other. That’s something we cant help with and we also can’t be there daily to in order to help but one thing we can do is reduce this enormous financial black cloud hanging over them. Any small donation would be hugely appreciated by our whole family. It’s not been an easy journey so far and it isn’t easy going forward. We are desperate to have his wife with him, cheering him on giving him the strength he needs.

Update:
Jon has been ‘stable’, still very very bad but hasn’t gotten any worse but isn’t getting much better, they believe he has contracted HLH which is another massive hurdle but he’s still trying to fight it. His stem cells just haven’t kicked in yet and his platelets are still extremely low.
