As we all know, life can be challenging. In fact God's word tells us that it will not be without challenges. This life is even more challenging for those that come to our rescue when we have these challenges in our own lives. The things firefighter/paramedics see on a daily basis we cannot possibly comprehend and only compounded his problem/addiction. Some of those heroes cope with these horrific situations properly and some do not or cannot. It is not encouraged in this line of work, to express that you are suffering. The bravado is suffocating. Jonathan chose the wrong way through alcohol, but it was the only way he could find to numb the trauma he experienced. I once heard it said there that are only two options for an alcoholic, stop drinking or death. Jonathan longs for a sober lifestyle and a future with a wife and children and all the things that we all have and maybe take for granted. He has reached the end of himself where God is now welcome into his life. Let's face it, we all think we have it together but in reality we are all a mess and just one decision away from being where Jonathan is currently. Reaching the end of yourselves is crucial to rehabilitation and recovery and more importantly, recovery can only be successful with God. Jonny 2.0 is just what it implies, second chance, a new and better version of who we all know Jonathan is and can be. He has lost a lot but he has found God. Jonathan is currently completing his first 30 day treatment. He has embraced treatment...every aspect of it and because of this he is being invested in. He looks good, he is clear, he is sober, and he has a new love for living. In fact for the first time in a very long time, he is happy - His words. He begins his next phase of treatment at Rockland Treatment Center in a few days and he is embracing the next opportunity to heal and get stronger. The program at Rockland is led by Brian Zitt, look him up on facebook to see his testimony. This is also a day/night program where he will be under constant care. As such, there will be additional costs. He has insurance but as we all know, insurance companies do not care about people and helping them get better, they care about money. Also, insurance companies often times do not authorize payment for things like this even though Jonathan paid into the company for nearly 6 years. Jonathan knows this was a situation that he played the main character in this tragedy and he is extremely remorseful and ashamed. His mother, brother, and I are asking that if you know Jonathan and who he truly is and can be... if you understand that even heroes need rescuing...if you know that we all are not perfect and make mistakes and have probably made some doozies...if Jonathan is worth it to you to invest in him, then please consider giving to this go fund me. These funds will be used to pay for any fees that his insurance does not pay for as well as any career re-training he needs...at least get him started. Thank you in advance...We are starting to see our son come back to us.
