Joni's Uncovered Medical Expenses from Hospital
Thank you for visiting. I'm asking for assistance to pay for the Personal care aides I needed to spend the night with me while in hospital with Para Influenza Type 3. For everyone else the common cold, for me it was a hospital stay with IV steroids, breathing treatments and tied to my Trilogy breathing device to save energy to heal. Why do I need personal care aides in a hospital? Because I have a physical disability as a result from Polio 62 years ago. In my normal life I work full time, drive my accessible van, garden and have a typical life in my own home. Because of my physical limitations I have personal care aides to assist me with these activities of daily living. Things like dressing, batheing, grooming, meal preparation and plating or cutting, repositioning in bed, going to bed. When I'm sick I need assistance wiping my nose, coughing, eating, having a drink, tossing and turning! Typically Medicaid pays for that service. However, in the hospital the theory is the nurses are there so my aides are not needed. Are there any nurses reading this? Do you have the time to meet these non-medical needs? I must pay the 10 hours my Personal Care Aide provide overnight Thursday and Friday.
Here's the truth!
1. I can't move anything below the waist except fingers. My sister spent 7.5 hrs. Thursday July 1st in doctor and ER; 14 hrs Friday and saved me when I began choking while trying to cough. Her time was spent repositioning (turning me, moving my foot,), giving me a drink, adjust my breathing machine called a Trilogy; My 87 yr old mom spent 6 hrs Saturday along with a friend of mine.
2. I can't call a nurse. Even on special call buttons.
3. I can't wait when I'm choking
The money you donate will allow me the funds to pay for that care while in hospital with Para Influenza Type 3. For everyone else the common cold. This is urgent because the service has been provided. I have the invoices. Thank you!!!
