Hi - we are the friends of Joni and Gary Witalison. On January 4, 2023, Joni had a heart attack while at work at her salon, A Cut Above in Fish Creek, Wi. Thanks to her friend and salon-mate, an ambulance was called right away and Joni was taken first to Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay, then a hospital in Appleton.

Joni spent several days in the hospital, undergoing angioplasty and the insertion of two stents. Now, Joni needs a heart valve replacement, which may require open heart surgery and months of recuperation.

As a self-employed small business owner, this means Joni has been without income since January 4th, and will be without income until she can return to work, possibly not until late Spring. On top of this, she has medical expenses and a high deductible to hit before her insurance even kicks in.

Joni has given so much to Door County, as a volunteer for the Gibraltar Historical Association , the Door County Half Marathon , Girl Scouts , and the Door Community Auditorium, not to mention her willingness to assist neighbors, friends, and anyone who requires a helping hand.
