Hi, my name is Mike, and I am trying to raise funds for my 24-year-old brother, Jonel. He was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome last week and has unfortunately progressed to toxic epidermal necrolysis. If you haven't heard of this before, it is most likely because it is a rare disease resulting from an allergic reaction to a medication. Who would have thought that my brother would go to the doctor one day, take the prescribed medication and now be fighting for his life?
Jonel had three hospital visits before being officially diagnosed and sent on a three-hour ambulance ride from South Carolina to the burn center in Augusta, Georgia. Upon arriving, he entered the ICU and, within a day, was intubated. He has now had to get a tracheostomy, which thankfully was successful. In the near future, he will also need to undergo further operations.
In the meantime, he now has an alarming amount of medical bills, a car note, rent, and insurance that need to be taken care of. Recovery could be at a minimum of 6 months or more without being able to work.
In addition, he will have to undergo further therapies as part of his recovery. This money would be used to offset the debt he is now incurring due to this situation.
Anything that can be donated, no matter the amount, would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for being willing to help my brother and our family at this time.
