The day before the biggest storm that hit Newfoundland in decades, will be a day that we will all never forget. As friends and family we spend numerous, weekend, holidays, birthdays, and every other day we can together with with any excuse to hang in Port Blandford, our home Terra Nova Cottages. The kids enjoy the animals, the laughter, the rides, summer or winter & we recently added to our ever growing furry family & got us all a Newfoundland Pony. Any one ever been in our company would certainly understand what family & friends mean to us. Jonathon with his wife Tennille, the boys, Denver & Bentley, Our friend Rick & Jon all decided to join us early Thursday to beat the storm. Upon arrival, the usual greeting of hugs & laughter, we sat & ate, planned the snowy weekend ahead. The kids were so excited & the boys decided to go for a pre-storm run on the snowmobiles while Tennille, myself & the kids hung back at the house tucked away with cozy flames of the woodstove burning. Ahhh it was gonna to be a great weekend until we were awoke with the most horrifying news anyone could ever receive, there's been a terrible accident. With not knowing who, why or what we scramble to get some information from a customer that was there just after it happened on the trail. The turn of events from that moment on was completely devastating & unbelievable. As Rick & Jim came upon Jonathon & Jon, they were in disbelief of how injured both of them were. It has taken some time to recollect with any possible answers for the cause of this almost fatal collision but however both men can barely remember what had taken place minutes before the collision. They were both picked up by ambulance & taken to Clarenville hospital for immediate attention. The Department of Highways the next morning brought both of them directly to the Health Science Center by ambulance the day of the terrible storm for immediate surgeries. Jon has since had his surgeries & is very lucky to be healing at a normal pace, and has been released & we are very grateful for this. He certainly will need recovery time as well & our prayers are with him daily. Since then Jonathon has been through various procedures & remains in hospital today with a glimmer of hope to start rehabilitation some time in April. The extreme extent of his injuries are from numerous broken ribs, both broken legs, damaged vertebrae, infection, punctured lung, all of which will take a very long time for his recovery. He has to remain in bed for a time to heal. His spirit has been broken, his friends & family will be his strongest support to help him mentally get through this terrible ordeal. Jonathon is self-employed & will not be able to work for quite a long time. Jonathon is the type of person that if knows of anyone in need, he's the first to help in any way, hes the first to take home any animal that needs a home & he's certainly the first to take care of his family & friends, he's just that kinda guy. I believe it's our turn to give to him & his family, he will certainly need all the support we can & to show him that we certainly care as well. We will also be holding an in person fundraiser for friends, family & anyone that knows Jonathon to come together for him @ the 5 O'Clock Lounge, 974 Kenmount Road,
March 6 in Paradise @ 6pm with great music, fabulous door prize & 50/50. Any donations will be gratefully accepted as well.
