Jonathan’s new journey
Donation protected
My name is Nayday Villaneva and on behalf of my loving husband Willie, my sons Christopher and Matthew, and my extended family, I would like to share the story of my son Jonathan’s horrific motorcycle accident – it was the moment in time that our lives were forever changed.
On the night of July 19, 2022, my son Jonathan was enjoying a ride when he lost control of his motorcycle. The force from the accident was so intense that it left my son fighting for his life. Johnathan was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital Trauma Center where a team of doctors worked tirelessly to save our son. Through prayers and a lot of medical intervention, Johnathan was placed on a ventilator as we prayed that his brain swelling would begin to heal.
My family and I were tasked with making some painful medical decisions that would impact Johnathan’s life forever. Although his body also suffered other broken bones and injuries, we needed to address the most life-threatening injuries first. After several intense surgeries, it was determined that Johnathon’s arm would need to be amputated.
The next step for us was to wait and pray that he would be taken off the ventilator and breathe on his own. Our son is A FIGHTER! By the grace of God, he was able to breathe without intervention. While he can breathe on his own without help, his brain is still slowly healing, and he is currently unable to follow verbal commands.
We continue to consult with the best doctors at Yale New Haven, we have been urged to continue Jonathan’s Care at a facility that specializes in Rehabilitation of Traumatic Brain Injuries. Like any family, we will do anything and everything to bring our son back and to give his daughter, Mia, back her Daddy.
At this time, our insurance is refusing to offer the financial help we would need to transfer Jonathan to Rehabilitation Center for Brain Trauma. We are kindly asking for any help you could give us so we can provide the care our son needs to begin to heal. We have so much love surrounding us and a very strong faith but find ourselves needing to lean on those around us to help. No donation is too small. And truly, if you can’t help with a monetary donation, we simply ask for your continued prayers and loving support for our family.
Sending Much Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
The Villaneva Family
