Jonathan Pyle - We Will Miss Him!!!

We never thought we would ever be “those people” who have to post on social media about our financial situation – but, if we want to continue to survive (literally), we have to lose that pride and be honest with our friends and family. This is tough….period – emotionally, physically (on both of us), mentally, socially, relationship-wise (going from husband/wife to caregiver/patient without warning), and of course financially – which is what brings us to this site. On a side note: this has not been tough spiritually, in fact, it has strengthened us and renewed our faith in His master plan.
For those of you who do not know what brings us here, please feel free to read about our story on www.caringbridge.org. To summarize, Jon is in end-stage liver disease and requires a liver transplant to survive. In the meantime, while we wait for the transplant, Jon spends his time in and out of the hospital treating the side effects of his failing liver.
Jon and I have medical insurance through my work but we have many medical bills not covered by insurance and other expenses that so many people don’t even think about – for example: food/grocery increased expenses for diet modifications, new and replacement household items (i.e. we have to keep Jon’s environment and air very clean), daily travel expenses (especially when he is inpatient), etc.
Jon’s deductible resets every January and his initial bills started in September 2014, which means this January we started all over and we will continue to do so every year (for the rest of our lives). Even after transplant, Jon’s medical expenses will easily meet our out-of-pocket maximum just due to his high-cost drugs alone (about $3,000 - $5,000 monthly). We will eventually be able to adjust, plan, and budget for these lifetime expenses, but right now we are still recovering from his initial medical bills that were a huge surprise.
The biggest adjustment is that we went from a double income to a single income overnight. Jon has finally qualified for some disability payments, because he cannot work in his current state; however, we are still struggling to recover from the past 4 months of extreme expenses on just one salary…at the same time, we are trying to save and financially plan for his transplant expenses (which will most likely be this year).
At this point, we may not exactly know everything that we will encounter this year (and in the coming years), but we do know that we are up against a huge financial battle and we are asking for help.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read about our story and help us on this new journey.
We are truly blessed to have each of you in our lives.
