Hello my name is Jessica Espindola I am married to a wonderful man named Jonathan Espindola and we have two beautiful girls ages 9 and 6. We have been together for about 11 years. Jonathan is a loving husband and the most amazing father.
Almost a year ago my husband Jonathan Espindola was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called Pemphigus Vulgarus, it is a very rare disorder that is most times diagnosed in people the age of 60 years and older, mind you my husband is 28. With this disorder there is no cure and most often all the doctors can do is make the patient comfortable. This disorder causes his white blood cells to attack the outer tissue of his mucus membranes in his mouth and nostrils. So what happens is in his mouth and nose he has open wounds and blisters that are treated as third degree burns. For him to eat or drink is very painful. Imagine watching the person you love the most flinch and have tears in his eyes every time he eats or drinks. He would always be the first person done eating at the table and always eating everyone elses food. Now he's the last and when his mouth is flared he refuses to even eat in front of people. He hates for people to stare while he is eating. We have been to about five different doctors and he has tried numerous mouthwashes and cortico-steroids. Finally we found a doctor who has an option of an I.V treatment that can help. At this point we have no other options, and we are willing to try anything. Unfortunatley the cost for the treatment is 14,000 dollars without insurance. This next month Jonathan will be insured, but the cost out of pocket will still range from 6,000 to 8,000.
If you please will find it in your hearts to donate whatever amount you feel generous enough to give we would greatly appreciate every penny. We plan on starting the treatment in late February or early March, so we are hoping to at least raise 6,000 by then.
